Gaming Peripherals

We love gaming and it is not only because it is fun but also because it is engaging depending on which fits your taste or your preference. There are so many popular games to try and nowadays we can play them on PC or laptop as well as from smartphones or tablets which makes it easy for anyone to get an access to the hobby. What you can do to improve the experience is adding accessories such as a gaming keyboard or gaming mouse and headset.

They are not a must since we can game with the standard equipment as long as they are functioning properly yet, it is also good to have them around if your goal is to improve the experience. The equipment doesn’t need to be expensive either because there are plenty of affordable gaming peripherals that you can choose as an alternative such as Bengoo G9000 Vs G9200 gaming headset. But, if you have the budget, the high-end equipment like SteelSeries Apex Pro gaming keyboard will surely perform better.

For those gaming on a PC, a gaming keyboard is very useful. Not only improving the comfort of your experience but also improving the play by being more responsive or coming with plenty of features to work with. Gaming keyboards are mostly mechanical which means they are light and feel satisfying to press. They may come in several sizes from the largest full-size to a 60% variant depending on what keys you will need to use during the application.

Next is gaming mouse and because PC gaming is extremely popular nowadays you can find so many good options out there, mostly coming from named brands like Logitech and Razer. Gaming mice are very similar to regular mice but some of them can be adjustable whether it is on the feature or on the weight. They are typically sturdier and designed with superb ergonomics to make sure we are always comfortable when holding and moving the device.

There is also a gaming headset and they are not far different from a regular headphone except for the built-in microphone that can be adjusted. This microphone is going to provide slightly more freedom over how you will want it to capture your voice while communicating. Surround sound is what makes a gaming headset different from typical headphones. This will give an impression that the sound comes from several points but the actual experience may vary among headset and the game we play.

About Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10

There is more than our main device when it comes to gaming experience but the most important is our platform because it plays the biggest role in delivering the story and how your favorite game is played. If you are here then we assume that a gaming headset is what’s lacking from your setup and not only for PC, this equipment is also useful for consoles depending on the type of connectivity. Gaming headsets are not versatile in general however, due to the design and sound character.

For those who don’t want to spend a lot on the gaming headset but just want something that is comfortable and sounds good, Turtle Beach and Astro have some interesting options to consider. There are lots of popular headsets out there and these brands are carrying affordable but reliable alternatives, especially for those who will only use the headset for gaming. The choice however, varies depending on which seems more important to you because not all of them are going to deliver the same experience.

If you are gaming across systems or platforms, Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 are going to be very ideal options to consider. These headsets are multi-platforms so you can use them with any console or PC you have in the house yet, for the Astro A10 there are few options to choose based on your platform so not every variant will work seamlessly with all of them. We can fix it with an adapter so make sure to get one or get the variant that matches your platform instead.

What we like from Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 is both the sound and comfort. These headsets are not going to feel amazing right out of the box but will get better as we use them more often. In comparison, we do think the Recon 70 is the most convenient and straightforward in terms of application or connectivity. We also like the sound character of this headset because it sounds like typical headphones compared to the Astro A10.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 Design

Before getting into any of these headsets, let’s take a look into the unit first and if you are not the type who fancy RGB lighting then these headsets will be very attractive. Personally we are not a fan of bright headsets since you can’t really see them in application. The construction is decent but they are not the best with mostly light plastic. Astro A10 has a very flexible headband but it also makes it feel more flimsy.

In comparison Recon 70 feels tighter on the head out of the box while A10 is providing quite a loose fit. The ear cups are equally wide to cover your ears and they seem to be adequately padded as well but, the material to cover their foams are not the same. It can be highly subjective but for comfort a fabric cover like in A10 usually will be more comfortable while the faux material will have better sealing ability.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 Sound Quality

Now for the most important part, let’s hear the Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 to determine which sounds better. Do note that sound character is highly subjective to which attracts you the most but we do think the Recon 70 is more balanced all across the frequency range. It is giving you this fairly neutral response with some elevation on the lower-range, something that is even more prominent on the A10 so if you love satisfying bass, the A10 will probably sound better.

What’s a bit strange is that A10 also boosts the mid-range quite a lot and this will show off things like vocals yet it can overpower the other frequency in which the Recon 70 is maintaining it pretty good. Overall if your personal taste is into the more balanced sound then Recon 70 will sound better but if you like bass and mid boost, the Astro A10 will be more attractive.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 Control

Now let’s talk about the control that you can find on these headsets because some people prefer to use them right on board than from the main device. There is only a volume dial here and it is located on the cord of A10 or the ear cup of Recon 70. Just like most gaming headsets, the microphone can be muted and adjusted based on the angle only since this is what they are designed with. Flipping up the mic will mute them and there is only a limited angle.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 Comfort

There are lots of good headsets and Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 are some of them. We love their overall comfort the most and while they do not directly feel the best out of the box, the padding will get molded to our ears shape after a while. The headsets are pretty decent in blocking noise but they are not impressive as well. We thought the Recon 70 would be a better choice for this sealing ability but in fact it is not as effective.

Our favorite part is how they feel comfy for prolonged use especially for the Astro A10 but since it feels loose on our head, it needs to be readjusted from time to time. Since they are not the best at sealing we prefer to play in a quiet room. The cable of Recon 70 is shorter however so it is only best when connected to a controller if you play games on a console.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 Vs Astro A10

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 and Astro A10 are good options based on which seems to fit you the most. In comparison, the sound character of Recon 70 is more natural or balanced compared to the Astro 10. The comfort is very similar for both headsets but the A10 is loose so it will probably need you to readjust the fit from time to time. However, the A10 has a longer cable so it gives a better mobility compared to Recon 70.
