Even their names are similar, with the codenames “Sensei” and “Rival” being the distinctions. Both models come with the TrueMove technology, which is said to have highly accurate 1:1 tracking. Design and Dimensions
The primary difference between SteelSeries Sensei 310 and SteelSeries Rival 310 is their designs. SteelSeries Sensei 310 is designed to be an ambidextrous gaming mouse. Meanwhile, SteelSeries Rival 310 is ergonomically designed for the right hand.
SteelSeries Sensei 310 is an ambidextrous gaming mouse, so it can be used by both left-handed gamers and right-handed gamers. It has a symmetrical shape which allows you to hold the mouse in either hand with equal comfort. Interestingly, many gamers think that SteelSeries Sensei 310 is actually more comfortable due to the good fit and neutral profile.
Also, the symmetrical shape allows the mouse to be a little more compact, measuring 125.1 mm long, 70.4 mm wide, and 39 mm tall. However, it is actually a little bit heavier at 3.2 oz, but you won’t notice the difference.
On the other hand, SteelSeries Rival 310 is an ergonomic mouse for the right hand. It is a little bigger due to having a distinctive curved part on the right side. SteelSeries Sensei 310 has 8 programmable buttons. Two buttons are on the left, and two more buttons are on the right. So, both left-handed and right-handed users can have two thumb buttons. On the other hand, SteelSeries Rival 310 only has 6 buttons. It has two thumb buttons on the left. The right side is fully covered by the grip surface.
The other features of these two mice are identical. Both come with high-quality Omron switches which are highly durable. Both models support on-the-fly DPI switching. Both Sensei 310 and Rival 310 have 1000 Hz maximum polling rate.
Performance
Of course, these two gaming mice also come with similar sensors. Each of them features a high-performance SteelSeries TrueMove3 optical sensor to give you the best tracking performance. This sensor claims to have true 1:1 tracking, so that physical movements can be translated into precise and accurate pointer movements. Both mice are responsive.
