Redragon K552 vs K553
Redragon K552 and Redragon K553 are two mechanical keyboards designed for gaming that can be feasible choices if you are looking for something affordable and budget-friendly. Mechanical keyboards do not always have to be expensive; well, they are relatively pricier than their membrane siblings, but there are several models out there that won’t wash out your cash. Redragon K552 and Redragon K553 are great examples. These keyboards both offer the superior performance of the mechanical technology without robbing your wallet. So, what is the difference between Redragon K552 and Redragon K553? Why is Redragon K553 only a few dollars more expensive than Redragon K552?
Similar Designs and Features
If you see the details of both of these two keyboards, you will see that they have a lot in common. Both are mechanical keyboards that use the Cherry Green custom mechanical switches. Each has 87 conflict-free keys for the true anti-ghosting performance, along with 12 additional multimedia keys. Both models are backlit, with several lighting options available: Red, RGB, and Rainbow RGB. Both are said to be splash-proof. Even so, they are only likely to survive some accidental splashes, and not long exposure to rain or submersion.
Expect similar performance from these two keyboards. They basically use the same technologies. Their keys have medium resistance and tactile feedback. For sure, they are quite noisy. They have lots of clicky sounds. If you are fine with the clicky sound everytime you hit a key, that’s great. Some people actually prefer to use a clicky keyboard. If you prefer a quiet keyboard, you should look elsewhere.
Different Housing and Key Caps
The first difference between these two models is the housing materials. Redragon K552’s housing is made from plastic and ABS materials. On the other hand, Redragon K553 has an aluminum casing, so it is much more rugged and durable.
The second difference is the key caps. Both models use double-shot injection molded key caps, but Redragon K552 has standard, non-floating key caps. On the other hand, Redragon K553 comes with floating key caps. The floating key caps make it much easier to clean, but there will be slightly more light coming out from the edges of the keys. The different key caps don’t actually alter the feel and performance.
Redragon K552 vs K553
Redragon K553 is more recommended due to the sturdier aluminum housing and easy-to-clean floating key caps. But if you don’t think that these features are needed, you can save a few bucks by choosing Redragon K552 instead.
