Corsair K70 vs K95
Corsair K70 and Corsair K95 are two mechanical gaming keyboards from a well-known brand. Corsair products have been trusted by many gamers because of the superior quality offered. Both Corsair K70 and Corsair K95 come with programmable backlighting, dedicated media keys, and the wrist rest to keep your hands comfortable and happy in extended gaming hours. However, Corsair K95 is slightly more expensive than Corsair K70. Then, what’s the difference between the two models that caused the price difference? How do they compare to each other, and which is the one that you should choose?
Size and Weight
If you put Corsair K70 and Corsair K95 side by side, you can immediately tell that the K95 is a tad larger than the K70. This is mainly because K95 has to accommodate more keys on top of it than K70. Corsair K95 is particularly wider to the sides, but it is also slightly taller than Corsair K70. In addition, Corsair K95 is also a little bit heavier than Corsair K70. The extra weight is because of the keyboard containing more parts and components, and, to make these additions more significant in terms of weight, don’t forget that the keys and housing are made of aircraft-grade anodized brushed aluminum. Of course, the material is relatively more lightweight than the stainless steel and titanium models, but still heavier if compared to plastic and membrane keyboards.
Additional Keys
One of the most distinctive features of a gaming keyboard is that it usually comes with additional keys. Additional keys are always a welcome addition to a gaming keyboard, because the additional keys can be useful in a variety of games and scenarios. FPS, MOBA, and RPG genres can benefit from the additional keys. Both Corsair K70 and Corsair K95 come with dedicated media keys – the volume control knob is especially handy and practical to use. Both also support macro. However, Corsair K95 comes with programmable G-keys for in-game macros; you can assign keystrokes or complex key combos to these G-keys instead of using the main keys. Corsair K75 does not have the G-keys.
Other Features
Both Corsair K70 and Corsair K95 have programmable backlights. Both come with the detachable wrist rest. They are both available in several versions; you can get either Corsair K70 or Corsair K95 with either the Cherry MX Red or the Cherry MX Brown switches. The Red version is generally softer than the Brown version. Corsair K70 is only available in black, whereas Corsair K95 is available in black and gunmetal color options.
