Corsair K70 vs K70 Lux

Many people have been wondering whether to go with Corsair K70 or Corsair K70 Lux. The differences between these two gaming keyboards are not straightforwardly apparent. The two models look similar, as they come with similar multimedia controls. Their volume control knobs are even identical. They each come with a soft detachable wrist rest, which is certainly very useful if you don’t want to deal with some wrist pain from an extended gaming session. Still, there are several important differences between Corsair K70 vs K70 Lux that, while not straightforwardly apparent, are important to consider.

Lighting
If you put Corsair K70 and Corsair K70 Lux side by side, you can see that they are actually about the same size and they have the same buttons. Corsair K70 Lux still comes with the same media controls as Corsair K70, including the volume knob which feels nice and accurate. These media controls are very, very useful for adjusting the volume and switching music tracks on-the-fly without having to minimize your game.

However, you can also notice that they have different fonts. Corsair K70’s keycaps have a standard font. Corsair K70 Lux’s keycaps, on the other hand, comes with a larger, stylish font that allows more light to come through. This is the same font used on Corsair Strafe’s keycaps (take a look at our previous post about Corsair Strafe vs K70 Lux). There are textured and contoured keycaps too for FPS and MOBA games.

Furthermore, you should note that Corsair K70 Lux is equipped with improved backlights. The older model, Corsair K70, has a flicker issue when working in the 16.8M color mode. Meanwhile, Corsair K70 Lux comes with a USB pass-through port, which is certainly very handy in various situations. It is especially useful if your gaming PC/laptop does not have many USB ports. You can say that this keyboard does not eat any port, as it replaces the port it uses with its own pass-through port. You can utilize the USB pass-through port for a mouse or a headset adapter.
